Sorry for the late post today! I was preoccupied with sleeping in, having the best donuts in the world with my family and drinking some good coffee with my hubby. Loving my time off! Now on to the main subject…
Rhonda is an accomplished solo pianist and released her debut album “When the Moon Cries” in the fall of 2008. Just recently she was nominated for the 2009 Just Plain Folks award for Best Album, Solo Piano Category and needed a press kit with some awesome updated photos. It’s not often that people have the opportunity or reason to have a photo shoot dedicated to themselves, unless you are a high school senior of course, then it’s all about you :).
Rhonda is my close friend and because of that I knew this was not going to be easy for her. It can be a little intimidating with a camera stuck in your face for an hour or so… having all the attention, being vulnerable and trusting that the person taking your picture will capture you in a light that is flattering and captures the real you. I was so excited that she trusted me to do that for her. What an honor!
Nothing better than a true, natural smile…
We had the best time! It had been a challenging day for me, having had 8 needles stuck in my neck to biopsy a growth (no cancer, praise God) and this is just what I needed to lift my spirits. She quickly got the hang of it and had just as much fun as me… I LOVE that!
Wide angle perspectives are some of the coolest shots! The depth in this shot captures me…
Rhonda, this is HOT, HOT I tell you!
The colors are beautiful and the landscape takes you to another part of the world.
One of my signature shots…
And one of my favorites…
For some reason Rhonda tried to get out of this shoot :)… “weather isn’t good” she said, or “I take bad pictures,” but it didn’t work and I am so glad that we pressed on. We got tons of great images of her and she loved them!!
We even hauled my favorite antique chair out into the tall grass. It almost looks like she is on a piano instead.
The colored version of this is beautiful with the sparkling sun on the amber colored grass, but for some reason it reminded me of a graveyard and so, went with that look… I am into graveyards… there is just something about them that interests me… maybe someday I will post some of my favorite graveyard shots from around the US. Been to some old ones!
One last shot… of the Rhonda I know and love… laughing… being herself…
